Real snow in the Home Counties is unreliable. Hire companies across Surrey, Hampshire, Greater London and Berkshire now supply professional foam-flake snow machines that look convincing on camera, photograph well at night, and can run in short bursts or as a continuous fall.
Most modern units use a water-based, biodegradable fluid. Flakes fall, settle briefly, then dissolve with little residue if you choose the right fluid for indoor use. Outdoor “accumulation” fluids leave a thicker layer on paths, trees and façades — the look people expect at a Christmas light switch-on.
You generally choose between dry hire (you collect or take delivery and operate the machine yourself) and operated hire (a technician delivers, rigs, runs and collects). Dry hire suits smaller indoor parties. Operated hire is the safer option for public events, high streets and anything with a large coverage area.
